Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 19, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how SB Tools (“we”, “us”) handles information for the SB Tools web application at sbtools.app and the SB Tools Companion browser extension (together, the “Service”).

1. Data we collect

  • Account / authentication data: When you sign in, we process account information (such as email) through our authentication provider. The Companion extension may receive and store a session token and user ID so it can connect to your account.
  • Case and investigation content: Information you enter or upload in SB Tools (cases, notes, sources, attachments, and related records).
  • Browsing activity (extension): If you select a case and turn tracking on in the Companion extension, it records page URLs, page titles, and visit times and saves them to that case.
  • Screenshots (extension): When you use capture, screenshots are saved to your device through your browser’s download dialog. The extension does not upload screenshots to our servers.
  • Billing data: Payment processing is handled by Stripe. We receive subscription status and related billing metadata needed to provide paid access.

2. How we use data

We use data only to provide and operate the Service: authentication, case management, optional browsing-history sync, local screenshot capture, subscriptions, and related support.

3. Storage

Session and preference data for the extension may be stored in Chrome local storage on your device. Account and case data, including case-linked browsing history, are stored in our application database and related infrastructure providers.

4. Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We share data with service providers only as needed to operate the Service (for example authentication, hosting, database, and payment processors), and when required by law.

5. Your choices

Extension browsing-history tracking is off until you enable it. You can stop tracking, change cases, or sign out at any time. Uninstalling the extension removes local extension storage on that browser.

6. Contact

For privacy questions, contact the publisher email listed on the Chrome Web Store listing for SB Tools Companion, or use the contact method provided on sbtools.app.
